La columna utiliza el suicidio de un ingeniero químico desempleado en Tlalnepantla para simbolizar las consecuencias nefastas de la política económica neoliberal. Se citan datos del INEGI que muestran una caída del 19.6% en ventas al menudeo y del 10.8% en empleo en el sector comercial de enero a agosto de 1995. Se presiona al Congreso para que fuerce al Ejecutivo a una nueva economía. Además, se informa del regreso del PAN a la mesa de diálogo político, a pesar de la arbitrariedad del gobernador Manuel Bartlett en Puebla.
